ChatSHOUT is a utility for sending LARGE messages to your chat buddies. Type your short (probably 1-word) message into the "Message" area and hit enter or click "Go". A large version of your message will appear in the output area. Copy and paste this output into your chat program to

 ****   *    *   ****   *    *  ******
*       *    *  *    *  *    *     *
 ****   ******  *    *  *    *     *
     *  *    *  *    *  *    *     *
*    *  *    *  *    *  *    *     *
 ****   *    *   ****    ****      *

at your friends. Of course you can use chatSHOUT's output in an email or for any other text-based use.

The message can be made from any character you enter into the "Character" field. Use a blank character to have letters made up of themselves.

Note that your chat program's font must be set to a monospaced font (i.e. "Courier" or "Lucida Console") and that the person receiving the message must have a wide enough window to view your message or it will appear garbled. For example, the default window size in MSN Messenger is only wide enough for a 4-character SHOUTed message. Another possible problem is trying to paste in multi-line messages that are too long for the chat program's input buffer. In this case, you will lose the last part of your message.

"Copy" isn't enabled in Applet mode because the system clipboard isn't accessable to Applets. You must click in the output area and use Ctrl-A to select the entire output or mark your message with a mouse drag. Then use Ctrl-C to copy from the Applet and Ctrl-V to paste into your chat program. Download the Application version to enable the "Copy" button.

Choose "Float" to put the applet in a separate resizable window. You can then make this window the same width as your chat window to see if your SHOUTed message is too wide.

Current supported characters are letters, numbers, and these 3 punctuation marks: .!?

Tested with MSN Messenger and Acrotopia. AIM support coming soon. Any other chat programs that you have verfied work with ChatSHOUT? Let me know.

Download Application version.
